DESIGN ENGINEERING

Nordica Plastics believes in working in partnership from initial Design concept, prototypinordicaplastics-0024ng through to production. Utilizing the latest in 3D Solid modeling software, making the most intricate of designs toolable and mouldable for the production stage.

MOULD MANUFACTURING

In-house tooling and production offers cost effective mould making with full control over the process. On-site facilities guarantees less interruption tonordicaplastics-0013 the production process. Designed and built utilizing pre-hardened or fully hardened tool steel. With the utmost attention to detail, automatic operation, and longevity. Once in production, your tools are kept in tip top condition due to our mould maintenance program.

Ultrasonic Welding

Ultrasonic welding is locally applied to workpieces being held together under pressure to create a solid-state weld. It is commonly used for plastics, and especially for joining dissimilar materials. In ultrasonic welding, there are no connective bolts, nails, soldering materials, or adhesives necessary to bind the materials together.

This process is a good automated alternative to glue, screws or snap-fit designs. Nordica’s ultrasonic welding equipment can be easily customized to fit the exact specifications of the parts being welded.

Regrinding

With today’s upward spiral of resin prices, it has become ever more important to optimize resin usage. A significant part of optimizing resin usage is proper use of regrind.

Most processing operations generate regrind. Therefore, it is necessary to be able to reprocess the regrind back into the part. In injection molding, some molds will generate more regrind than others. For example, a hot runner system will typically produce less regrind than a process using a cold runner system making multiple small parts.

Pad Printing

Our in-house facility enables us to perform test prints on your products or prototype samples. We have the ability to formulate a variety of international standard colours such as Pantone, RAL, HKS. We can also formulate special proprietary colours for industries such as automotive and pharmaceutical.

Pad printing is a printing process that transfers a 2-D image onto a 3-D object using an indirect offset (gravure) printing process that involves an image being transferred from the cliché via a silicone pad onto a substrate.
